ALKALI STRIPPABLE ETCHING RESIST INK

SER-400 Series

Alkali strippable etching resist inks are designed for use in copper thru-hole process in conjunction with the use of hole plugging inks (see SER-490w series ) to eliminate the lengthy solder plating-stripping process.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

1) For acidic etchants only.

SER-400BL Blue pigmented, low viscosity.
SER-400BM Blue pigmented, medium viscosity.
SER-4200-BL Black pigmented, high thixotropy, suitable for extreme fine line screening.
SER-423C

SER-400CMAN
Black pigmented, medium viscosity, suitable for fine line screening.
Black pigmented, low viscosity.

2) For acidic and mild alkaline (up to pH 10) etchants.
    SER-410CL Black pigmented, low viscosity.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

1) Scrubbing
     Use scrubbing machine (double buff, oscilation type).

2) Printing
     Printing conditions are:
     a) Screen mesh size 
          polyester                    220-300
          Stainless steel         250-350

     b) Squeezee
          70 durometer

SER-420C-BL is highly thixotropic ink, it may appear viscous when no dynamic force is applied. Therefore, we recommend stirring this ink vigorously for a few minutes until it become smooth and fluid immediately before screening. We recommend using these inks without dilution, however, if necessary, SER-420C-BL should be diluted with the solvent provided but not exceed 3%.

4) Etching
   
SER-410CL is used for all acidic etchants and mild alkaline (up to pH 10) etchants.
    Others are only used for acidic etchants such as ferric chloride, cupric Chloride etc.

5) Stripping
   
Etching resist ink is normally stripped concurrently with hole plugging Ink in one operation. 
    So they are designed to strip with 1-5% NaOH Solution at 40C.
